Gardening prettyflowers

Gardening is an activity where Toons can start their own garden with the gardening kit at their estate. Toons can earn a total of four laff boosts from receiving gardening trophies. These trophies are rewarded when you plant various flowers. Toons may also plant up to eight gag trees, which will increase the planted gag's damage by 10% (rounded up) and/or will increase its accuracy.

To start a garden, Toons will need a gardening kit, which will include everything required for gardening (excluding gags and jellybeans, needed for gag trees and flowers). These must be ordered through Clarabelle's Cattlelog. Once received, a gardening guide will be shown, then tree plots and gardening trays will assemble itself around the house of the Toon who purchased the gardening kit.

For a week after gardening was released in Toontown Rewritten, Toons could enter the Shticker Book code "gardening-is-go" to get a free gardening kit without having to wait for their next cattlelog.

Watering cans

There are currently four different watering cans Toons can use to garden. To earn another watering can, Toons must water flowers a specific amount of times. After each watering can advancement, water points are reset. Each consecutive watering can has a higher amount of points to complete. To gain water points, a Toon must water fully grown flowers of the highest level they are able to water. Refer to the following chart for further information:

Shovels

There are currently four different shovels Toons can use to garden. To earn another shovel, Toons must replant flowers a specific amount of times. After each shovel advancement, shovel points are reset. Each consecutive shovel has a higher amount of points to complete. To gain shovel points, a Toon must pick fully grown flowers of the highest level they can plant. Refer to the following chart for further information:

Shovel Points Jellybean cost to advance
Tin 0 - 39 1 jellybean
Tin 40 - 79 2 jellybeans

Silver 0 - 159 5 jellybeans
Silver 160 - 319 6 jellybeans
Gold 0 - 319 7 jellybeans
Gold 320 - 639 8 jellybeans

Flowers

There are 8 different flowers that a Toon may plant. These include Daffodils, Lilies, Daisies, Pansies, Carnations, Roses, Tulips, and Petunias. Each type of flower has at least 2 varieties of species.

Planting a flower

A flower can be planted outside of a Toon's house in one of the various pots. Using the "Plant" function will cause a jellybean chooser will come up.

Refer to the list below to learn the combinations for different jellybeans.

Jellybean combinations

Note: Resources of figuring out the jellybean combinations were taken from a Toontown Online YouTube video and Toontown Wiki's "Gardening" page.

Different jellybean colors mean different flowers. The combinations must be placed in order, or they may plant a different or no flower at all.

These are the jellybean combinations for each type of flower. There are several different color jellybeans: red (r), green (g), orange (o), violet (v), blue (b), pink (p), yellow (y), cyan (c), and silver (s).

Plant growth

All plants grow at 01:00 AM (TTT), based on any gardening activity that was done before midnight of the previous day. For instance, if a flower is planted and watered at 23:59, since it was both planted and watered before midnight, it would grow at 01:00. If, however, it was planted at 23:59, but only watered at 00:00, it would not grow at 01:00 that day, but instead, the next.

Selling flowers

Flowers can be sold at the wheel barrow after harvesting. The sale price is twice the cost of the flower. For example, 6 bean flowers will have a sale value of 12 beans each, a 7 bean flower will sell for 14 beans, and so on.

Gag trees

Gag trees can grow gags. Once planted and fully grown, it will boost the power of that gag. This is called an "organic bonus". The Toon may also pick gags from the tree to place in their Gag Pouch. Toons can plant gags on any of eight available spots. However, in order to plant any level 2+ gag, the preceding gag in that track must be planted. If a lower level gag tree is removed, higher level trees will be unable to produce gags or organic bonuses. For example:

  • In order for a Toon to plant a Bamboo Cane gag, they must first plant the Feather, Megaphone, and Lipstick and they musn't remove them in order for them to get the organic boost. It takes three days per level of the gag for the tree to fully grow. This means that:
Growth time
Gag level Number of days
1 3
2 6
3 9
4 12
5 15
6 18
7 21

Organic bonus

The organic bonus increases damage for offensive gags, increases healing for Toon-Up gags, and increases accuracy for Lure gags. Organic bonuses provided to these gags are referred to as "organic gags".

Trivia

  • The silver jellybean is not used in any flower combination; it is only used to plant statues.
  • Previously, a bug occurred that made some Toons' gardens fail to grow. This has since been patched multiple times (see March 14[1], 16[2] and May 27, 2015 release notes), and has been confirmed by moderators and developers in the #toontownrewritten IRC channel.
  • When it comes to gag trees, each gag can only be planted once per garden.
  • Presentation is the only gag to gain no organic boost when grown on a gag tree
